1. LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE:
I've already read and loved this book that came out May 12th so I can tell you that it's a snappy and engaging page-turner. Ani FaNelli's life is a perfect lie. She has a glamorous job, expensive wardrobe and a handsome blue blood finance. But Ani has a secret--something from her past at the prestigious Bradley school, that still haunts her. The book goes back and forth between the present and the days leading up to the traumatic event that rocked her world and left her desperate to reinvent herself. It reminds me of Big, Little, Lies in that it's both lighthearted and funny, but also deals with serious topic matter. Will breaking her silence destroy all that she's worked for, or will it at long last,
set Ani free?

2. GO SET A WATCHMAN
This highly anticipated novel by Harper Lee is set for release July 14th! This is the sequel to one of the greatest novels of all time, and my personal favorite classic, To Kill A Mockingbird. It's actually the parent book of To Kill A Mockingbird. The unpublished manuscript was rediscovered last year by Mrs. Lee's attorney, who was doing some legal work for the elderly Mrs. Lee and stumbled upon it. The attorney was confused at first because the manuscript had the familiar characters, but they were much older. Mrs. Lee confirms the book's existence and now it's coming out for everyone to read! There's been a bit of controversy surrounding the publication, which you can read about in this Harper Lee-NY Times Article

3. EIGHT HUNDRED GRAPES
This book just came out June 2nd and it's all about secrets . . .  secrets you share and secrets you hide. Growing up on her family's Sonoma vineyard, Georgia Ford learned many secrets--like it takes eight hundred grapes to make a bottle of wine and the way to end a fight is to hold hands. But just a week before her wedding, thirty-year-old Georgia discovers her beloved fiancé has been keeping an explosive secret. She returns to her family vineyard, hoping for comfort, but it turns out her fiancé isn't the only one who's been keeping secrets . . .

If You Grew Up Loving Judy Blume . . .

4. IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT
Yes, you heard that right! JUDY BLUME wrote her first adult novel and it came out June 2nd! This is a richly textured and moving story of three generations of family, friends and strangers whose lives are profoundly changed by unexpected events. In 1987, Miri Ammerman returns to her hometown of Elizabeth, New Jersey to attend a commemoration of the worst year of her life. Thirty-five years earlier, when she was fifteen and in love for the first time, a succession of airplanes fell from the sky, leaving her community reeling. Blume portrays a vivid portrait of the era she experienced in the 50's. This book is sure to have all the Hallmarks of vintage Judy Blume--unparalleled storytelling, and memorable characters who cope with loss but still find joy in their surroundings.

5. FINDERS KEEPERS
Are you a Stephen King fan? If you are, you'll be happy to know the second book in his Bill Hodges Trilogy came out June 2nd! If you haven't read many King books, or are still freaked out from IT or The Shining, give this one a try--it's not a creepy book, it's more of a thriller. I'm in the middle of it and loving it! You don't have to have read the first book for this one to make sense either. It's about a vengeful reader. An iconic author wrote a bunch of books with a beloved and controvercial character named Jimmy Gold. But then he stops publishing and becomes a recluse. The vengeful reader, Morris Bellamy is livid for a host of reasons and ends up killing the author. But when he raids the author's safe, he finds not only cash but a trove of notebooks containing more novels. Morris hides the money and the novels but then goes to prison for another crime. Decades later, a boy named Pete finds the money and notebooks, just before Morris is released from prison. This book is packed with spectacular, heart-pounding suspense.

6. MODERN ROMANCE
I got to see Aziz Ansari last summer when he came to Utah and of all the comedians on the line-up for the night, Aziz was by far my favorite. His new book came out June 16th and is the result of a massive research project after teaming up with an NYU sociologist. They conducted hundreds of interviews and focus groups from Tokyo to Buenos Aries to Wichita. They also did online surveys, created a reseach forum on Reddit, interviewed many of the world's social scientist and boiled down all the data into this sharp and witty comedy book. It takes a look at how romance has changed over the years and how the differences impact people's decisions of if, when, whom to marry. Sound like a funny, insightful book that's sure to have you rolling.

7. THE RUMOR
Elin Hildebrand returned June 16th with her annual chic-lit book jam-packed with rumors, scandals, financial ruin, love and gossip. Rumor has it that Madeleine, a novelist who is battling writer's block is making desperate choices. Rumor has it that Grace is collaborating a little too close with her ruggedly handsome landscape architect. Rumor has it that Grace's husband, successful real estate developer "fast Eddie" has an unsocial side project. Rumor has it that Madeline's son Brick and Grace's daughter Allegra have a romance on the rocks. Now Grace and Madeline must try to set the record straight--but the truth might be even worse than the rumors.

8. THE NIGHTINGALE
Okay, okay. This one has been out since Feb 3rd. BUT I had to add it on here because it's getting such rave reviews and sometimes you just need a book full of substance. This book is an epic panorama of WWII that illuminates an intimate part of history rarely showcased: the woman's war. Two sisters are separated by years, experience, ideals, passion and circumstance but both must survive war-torn, German-occupied France. After Vianne's husband is sent to the front lines, she's forced to take an enemy into her house, putting her life and her child's life at risk. Her sister, Isabelle is a rebellious eighteen-year old who meets a mysterious partisan who believes the French can fight the Nazis from within France. She falls completely and recklessly in love with him, only to be betrayed. She joins the resistance, never thinking about the deadly consequences. This book is a heartbreakingly beautiful story that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It's a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

If You Want to Take Over the World . . .

This book came out June 9th so you won't even have to wait to get these powerful insights from 1001 actual days in the lives of high-achieving women. This isn't a work of fiction--far from it. Author Laura Vanderkam shares time-logs and insights from the daily lives of women who make at least $100k/yr and still make time for their families, friends, exercise and leisure activities. While this may sound impossible, daunting, or not your cup of tea, the book is getting positive reviews from all different kinds of women, many of whom are stay at home moms who weren't necessarliy the target audience. I'm interested to see what she has to say. If someone works 40 hours and sleep 56 hours a week, that leaves 72 hours for everything else. Vanderkam goes into how these women divide up the "everything else" hours--why we work less and have more free time than we think, why it's a myth that successful women get way too little sleep and how women can have many demands on their time and still be happy and enjoy a healthy amount of downtime. The book claims to provide a framework for anyone who wants to thrive at both work and life.

10. THE BEST OF ENEMIES
This one comes out a little later this summer on Aug 4th. It's written by the author of Bitter is the New Black, one of my favorite memoirs. Now snarky Jen Lancaster is back with a novel! This book is told from alternating perspectives of two women who define the term frienemies. Jacqueline and Kitty have absolutely nothing in common--except their mutual friend Sarabeth. Jacqueline is a fearless journalist and Kitty is a multi-tasking stay at home mom. The three of them used to be besties in college until Jacqueline accidentally hooked up with Kitty's boyfriend. Now all these years later, Sarabeth's husband dies in a suspicious boating accident. Jacqueline and Kitty know they must help her solve the mystery. They'll have to bury the hatchet and hit the road for a trip that may just bring them together, if it doesn't kill them first.

I make $20 for a 20 minute survey!

Guess what? This is exactly what big companies are paying me for. They need to know what their average customer needs and wants. So these companies pay millions of dollars every month to the average person. In return, the average person, myself included, participates in surveys and gives them their opinion.
