"POPULAR: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek" Book Club Ideas Part 1

I was a little skeptical about reading this book when we picked it and this is a perfect example of a book I would have never read on my own but because of book club I read it. I am so glad I did. I feel my mind has been opened to a new way of looking at Popularity and I wished I had read this when I was in 8th grade.
"If you want to be a human being, and a popular human being, then you need to come out of your shell." - Betty Cornell (Popular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek pg 174)
The food menu for this book was pretty simple. It was Mexican food. The setting of this book is in Brownsville, Texas right next to the Mexico border.

{Drinks}
Sangria would be perfect for this book or any other Mexican refreshment. We also had lemonade.

{Sides}
Think all things you would put on a fajita.

{Main Dish}
The perfect main dish is FAJITAS! We did a crockpot of chicken and a crockpot of streak. Then we had corn or flour tortillas.

{Desserts}
We gave the book club members free reign on what they would like to bring to book club this time. We got a variety of brownies, homemade cheesecake and cookies.

I love Julie's table and chairs. (Okay not the folding chairs.)  I just had to throw this in.

Let the Eating Begin!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Julie for hosting this month.
Your new home is beautiful and we are so glad we were able to have book club there.

Here's a Maya'ism for you. She gives these throughout the book.
"Bite your tongue off before nerd-talking about Lord of the Rings to the boy you like. Unless he himself is from Middle Earth." - Maya Van Wagenen (page 139)

And check back next week for our Book Club Ideas Part 2

I hope your book club decides to read this book and this has given you some good ideas for a yummy dinner.
